Happy New Year! (as if anyone's reading this)

Translation turns out to be much harder than I first expected.

At first I thought Japanese Names (+already translated into Chinese) would be the hardest. I also expected a certain portion in Book 4 to blow my mind. I am not there yet, but even when I reach there, I won't be telling you.

But turns out there are many more troubles. Chinese doesn't have tenses and subject-verb agreement, so grammar is needed. Some sentences are also structured differently. "I ate food just now" and "Just now, I ate food" are both legit for English, but for Chinese only the latter (i.e. time before the action) is allowed. Things like this are hard too.

I don't understand how duelnoir used to send out such a long entry every week. They're amazing.

Right my rant is kinda over. I might post again in 1/2 week(s).

See you!

comments

The subject is essentially what I want to know too.

I'd like to help in translating Danganronpa: Kirigiri to English since no one's continuing on it. There are, however, people who have translated parts of it. An almost full translation of book 1 can be found here. And a rough summary of book 1 and chapters 1-3 of book 2 can be found here.

But, (at least currently), you should have went to both before you see this post/account.

Even though I'm (going to try) trying to translate a Japanese novel to English, I actually do not understand Japanese. Fortunately, there already exists a Chinese translation here. I will be using that to translate the novel to English instead (while enjoying it at the same time, hopefully)

I'm new to translating, but please feel free to correct me on some translations. I'm also not likely to have a fixed schedule, so please don't rush me for translations.

Hopefully you will enjoy the novel! (If I actually finish it/them.)

Edit: I'll start work when I have permission to use the translation to translate to English... which should work out.

comments
